Holiday

Its winter break and that means no school for two weeks. How great is that? I have a feeling this winter break is going to be really good. I have so much things in mind to do over break, not to mention all of that homework too. This winter break, I was planning to spend most of it with all my friends because during the summer I felt like I didn't spend enough time with them so that is going to be great. Christmas right around the corner! I was planning to give someone a present but I didn't get a chance to so maybe I'll try to give it to them during winter break.

On the other hand this Christmas is quite bad. I don't get to have a Christmas present. Actually I did get it but I had it stolen so I can't really do anything about that now. My family is planning to visit some relative over in New York. I haven't seen them in a while so if i do it would be really great. New York also has HUGE shopping malls and stuff like that so I might want to walk around or something. I was born in New York but I don't really remember anything from that well so it would be nice to walk around New York and explore some new places.

Track

Track is my favorite sport in the whole wide world. Track is just a basic sport and the only thing you actually need to know is to run between the lines. I run the 400 meter sprint for track at Alameda High. I think track is the only sport that I'm really good at. There lots of other races I can run but I specialize in the 400 meter race. I also have the ability to hurdle too, but due to back pain I quit.

There's actually a lot of things you have to consider when your running. Some of those things are like controlling your breathing and getting more oxygen to your body and keeping your elbow at a 90 degree. There are also blocks where you kick off at the beginning of the race. A lot of people say running distance, there are lots of things you have to consider like pace, breathing, and final kick. A final kick is a sprint to the end during a distance race and its usually for competitive placement. One very important thing for track is also the SHOES. Shoes for track is very different. It can not be worn casually because there's spikes on it.

Today I watched a TED video in class and the question was what body part would I replace if I could. I thought that very deeply because people can get major advantages if they had a better leg with more muscles. I think that people are fine the way they are and I would actually like to keep my body parts EXCEPT eyes. Eyes are an exception because it is very needed.

Police

I don't even know if I'm allowed to do this but its free speech so it doesn't matter now. What I want to talk about to day is polices. I think they are good and all but sometimes they are some of the worst people ever. So it has been nearly a month since the incidence with the robbery of my stuff and other members of the track team. So once we we found out that the stuff were stolen. I called 911 and I told them the story. The police officer also told me to go to the campus cop next thing tomorrow and tell him the story along with my other friends too.

That was what my friends and I did. We told them the story and we also have SUSPECTS to whom stole it because one of my friends saw them on the bus with the stolen items. We later on found out there names and reported it. This got my hopes high very much because we got names and stuff so the chances of getting it back were higher. The thing they stole was an iTouch. It cost around 300 something or so and it was an early Christmas present. One month later, referring to now, I still haven't gotten notice from the cops. I'm pretty sure they either don't care or they just don't want to help. I mean what other reasons and evidence should I have shown them that the suspect stolen my stuff?

My dad also told me i couldn't buy another one and he is also not buying me anything for a year. So right now, my parents are still frustrated and I'm left with no presents this Christmas. So thanks a lot officers.

My Other Blog

So in this blog I want to promote my other blog. I personally find blogging fun. In fact you you haven't already known I have two blogs. I have one for blogging for homework and the other one is sort of a journal about my day. The blog I use to journal my day is quite useful. I use it vent out my day whether it is a bad day or a good day. At the end of each bog post I also rate my day from 1 - 10. I also put my favorite song of the day however, that was taken down because I was going to run out of good songs to put out. It is also updated daily.

However, recently I have stopped blogging due to all the homework and other stuff that happening, such as the robbery case. I think I need to be blogging more often. Journaling about your day is quite fun. I suggest that everyone should bog every day.

One thing I really like about my other blog is that I can write what ever I want. Whether I'm mad or happy. And since I write about my day every day is different. Although I haven't been blogging much there are older blog post that you can read. I am actually trying to revive my old blog because after I stopped for a while I totally forgot about blogging. Stereotyping People

What I want to talk about in this blog is stereotypes. For me, stereotypes is a major thing for me because I'm Asian. However, stereotypes affect all races but I think Asians have the worst stereotypes. We are known to have small eyes, mostly "nerds", and we are suppose to get good grades. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I mean when I do get good grades ( which I mostly don't ), people think of me as a different "Asian". It makes school a lot tougher for Asians because we are expected to a be at a standard.

Another thing that really bothered me is what is exactly a stereotypically Asian? To all my viewers this is not a question only Asians can answer. What I mean what was the stereotypically back then in the 90s vs. right now? Stuff like listening to music can be very "Asian". Okay, so I was with my friends a few weeks ago and they asked me what I was listening to on my iPod. I answered Korean music. Guess what their response was? " That's so Asian." Then I thought just because I live in America now doesn't mean I have to listen to American music too. I listen to American music but I just prefer Korean. So have the stereotypes changed? I'm pretty sure that when Asians or any other ethnicity moved to America they didn't just start listening to their culture's music.

Everything now has gradually changed. The stereotypes of everything changed. Some Asians don't get good grades yet people automatically assume way to much. Another thing is the only reason why there are so much stereotypes is because one person in that ethnicity did something wrong or what ever and its affected on the whole ethnicity itself other than just one person. So people that doing stupid things like stealing ( just lost my iTouch ), stop stealing and making your ethnicity look bad because of one stupid thing you might have done.

A New Purpose

I have now decided a new purpose for my blogging. In the beginning of my blogging I posted a blog saying that I want to blog about the environment. However, as time passed I began to drift from the topic for what I wanted to write about. I want to change it so that it actually can be "For The World". I want to blog about things that may or may not care to you. Over the pass month I shifted from the environment topic to a more technological things such as computers and the latest technology. I also added some music that I like listening to.

What I want my blog to be about is more talk about more diverse things. I want to talk about past, current, and future events. When I started this blog I was only focused on one topic instead of using other some interesting topics.

I didn't really stick to my goal as much as I wanted to. Now I want to change my goals. Instead being stuck with one topic, I want to be a free writer. Writing what ever happens. Another goal I would like to accomplish is to stop using slang or any type of words that can be sorta over the internet. I have a habit of typing what with "wat". I would also like to slow down and edit more work more often because I feel that I don't take enough time editing my posts. Another critically thing is my grammer. I have lots of grammatical errors EVERYWHERE.

Reflection Visit

I didn't really know what to write about until the last day. Today I went to Oakland High School to visit some friends because I didn't have school today. I was absolutely shocked at what Oakland High looks like. I mean Oakland is a pretty bad and good place at the same time. It is good because you might experience things that will benefit you in the future but it is also know to be "ghetto". You probably think this is true too. I actually lived in Oakland at some point of time and I have experienced many things like fights and thievery.

I was actually born in New York and I lived there for 3 years until I moved to Oakland. My parents wanted me to live in a better environment with better schools. So I was actually going to a preschool near this private school called OIS. My brother had the chance to go to OIS and get a good education. But when my parents found out there is a better district call AUSD then decided to move to Alameda. But for that to happen they had to cut back on private school for my brother. By the time that happened me and my brother was sent to a public school near our apartment. I had a great time going there. I might lots of friends and grown close relationships.

By the time my parents saved up money we moved to Alameda as fast as we could. It was really rough for me because I had gotten a very close friend and I had to lose him because of the better education in Alameda. I moved in the middle of the year and I started a fresh new appearance in Alameda. It was actually pretty crazy and the only thing I remember about the first day of school was that my brother went on a field trip so I had no one to play with during recess. So as I grew older I adapted to my new school and every year I go up to a new grade level. Up until today when I visited Oakland High, I saw many of my elementary school friends. They were all so different then i had imagine because I lived a totally different lifestyle then they do. Some of them grew tall, stayed the same height, become more cute, but the one that shocked me the most was my best friend joined a gang. I didn't see him because he went to Oakland Tech.

I just realized how important a environment is to you. I should also be blessed to go a a better school. I also thought to myself what would I have become if I had stayed in Oakland and enroll to a Oakland school. I guess I won't be able to know and no one will know...

Over Priced

Okay. This topic has been stuck in my head since the last post I did and I was wondering why things these days are so over priced. To start off first, why does iPhones and iTouches cost so much? I mean it should cost a bit more because its a branded name and it is the newest things out in the market but why does the producers have to be so greedy? I think ( not positive ) it should only take about 100 dollars to make a iTouch or so. But Apple makes the product sell for up to 300 or 400 depending what model you get and how much memory it has in there. I also think that it is a waste to put so much memory to a MP3 player such as the iTouch because very few people actually use up all the space.

Other things that are over priced like crazy are foods and drinks. For an example, something like a bottle of soda cost around $1.30 or so. But the materials to make the thing is about only 60 cents. Isn't that absurd? Even the produce you buy at markets are expensive. I know that the foods we eat has to be shipped and stuff but the increase of it is a lot. Another example is something at Safeway can be also bought and some place like Chinatown for a LOT cheaper.

Another major increase of a product is clothing. I mean there are different types of materials and that makes the clothing look or feel better when wearing it but when clothing that cost 100 dollars per jeans or jackets or something like that is kinda weird. The only difference is brand and fashion. You can probably get something close to that certain type of shirt or sweater for a lesser value but a different brand. So this means you are actually paying more because the brand says some weird company's name/logo on it.

Microsoft's PC VS Apple

Microsoft's computer are said to have been copied off of Macs. I never owned a Mac so I don't know the functions in it like I do for the PCs. In my own opinion I think that PCs are better. Microsoft has been practically a rival against Apple. It seems that once Apple introduced the iPhones and iTouches the competitors like Microsoft is getting worse end of the deal. Most people say that the Vista for Microsoft is worst than the XP. Just when will Microsoft make a whole new product to make the playing field even? As for us, the consumers, are in the battle field of war. AS electronics begin to get more complex their prices soar like rockets.A funny fact is that Bill Gates said to his children that he doesn't want Apple products in the house and yet he has a Mac for himself. But that is just he rumors that have been told.

I think that the reason why Microsoft is doing so bad against Apple is because Microsoft doesn't sell MP3 players like Apple does. I mean yes they do sell MP3 players but it isn't as good. Which would u prefer an iTouch or a Zune? One of the famous things that Microsoft made was only the XP computer, Halo, and the XBox. However, Macs made the Mas computer, iPhone/Touch,Mac Book Pro, and the revolutionary product that got everything going, the iPod.

Weird question for Microsoft. Why did you guys stop selling XP computers? I personally think that the XP computers are better than the Vista and Windows 7. I don't see why they are selling the things that still have slight bugs in them while they have a whole different product that may be a little bit older but performs way better than the new versions. All I know is electronics are just becoming more of a fashion rather than a tool.

Music Players

So recently I brought a new iTouch from Apple. The iTouch is great and all except one thing, that is the use of iTunes. I had so much trouble with syncing my iTouch to my laptop. Really confusing actually. Its also because I use to use a different music player. What I can't stand is doing extra sorting for music. Its also got me wondering why there are so much different music players. I personally prefer RealPlayer and I understand why companies make music players but for Apple, its just freaking confusing. If you haven't tried iTunes and you are use to using a different music player I suggest you use something different. iTunes maybe one of the worst music applications ever. I mean sure you can argue about but, there is something I , personally, don't like about it. That is the syncing of iPods to computers. I don't see why they do that because it just confuses people. I mean iTunes probably good IF you know how to use it well but its just to confusing for me.
Sharing music is also another thing I want to talk about. I don't see why people have to copyright things. I mean they get the money and stuff. I don't see why we are not suppose to use it. Like for an example, Youtube is cracking down on the cases for the copyrighted songs. People listen to music for entertainment and enjoyment. The companies that produced the songs gets a lot of money already so why can't they let the copyrights go? Are they scared that someone else will reproduce it and make it better? I don't think they are really scared of that. Some artist copies rhythms from other songs. Another thing is the artist that produced the song is already recognized. However, these are just my opinions. What do you think?

How I Annotated "Can We Talk?"

(3.) Some examples will highlight the process. Several years ago one of my students conducted a research project investigating preschoolers’ conceptions of[4] Native Americans. Using children at a local day care center as her participants, she asked these three- and four-year-old to draw a picture of a Native American. Most children were stumped by her request. They didn’t know what a Native American was. But when she rephrased the question and asked them to draw a picture of an Indian, they readily complied. Almost every picture included one central feature: feathers. In fact, many of them also included a weapon—a knife or tomahawk—and depicted the person in violent or aggressive terms.

Most of these ideas are true. Children these days are very stereotypical. I annotated " They didn't know what a Native American was." I thought that this was important because the kids are so use to their own group they are use to or don't know anything else from the outside world. The kids were only exposed to the races of their local area. Another important annotation that I noticed was that the kids drew the pictures of Indians very aggressively. So basically they drew a stereotypical Indian with feathers and knives. I thought that this was very important because just like the first annotation this mean a lot like the same.

Just Hear Me Out

I took me a while to think about what to write next. I thought I could keep writing about environmental things but it turns out that I can't. So, yet again, I am going to write about something different. What I am going to write about is music. I think that music is a very important part of teenagers life. Music can vent out so much bad things. Its also weird because now, some people listen to songs they don't even understand. For an example, if you are Chinese you CAN listen to Korean or Japanese music. The diverse world is mixing together and everything from foods to musics are mixing. I am actually a person who listen to Japanese and Korean songs even though I don't understand a single word. Some of my friends do the same thing too.

Some famous Korean artist, such as Big Bang, 2PM, SNSD, and DBSK, are also making the change so that everyone in the world can listen to their music. Music popularize as the years get greater and thus, better MP3 players comes out. Major MP3 companies like Mac produce such good MP3 players such as the iPhone and iTouch get lots and lots of money. I think that the company like mac and Microsoft charge lots of money for their electronics.I think that a 32gb iTouch isn't suppose to cost that much. Since they are the only brand that sells that type of electronic they can sell at what ever price they want.

Another thing that is crazy is that I'm finishing my blog through my iTouch. I also though this is impossible. Technology these days are just freaking crazy. It's only been about a hundred years since we made the first computer and now big companies like Mac or Microsoft is making flat screens and etc. I'm also wondering when we make the first super computer? Or has it already been made? It's funny how the government has high tech things that we don't though about. It can actually be possible that we made a computer that surpasses all other things. If you are wonder what it is search it up on Google because I might not know either. From 100 years from what the world though was possible came true. However, the world is also scared that computers might contol the world. One other opinion I would to say is that people that aren't expose to the new and the latest technology is actually better for them. I only think because people that are to caught with the Internet gets drowned with many socializing sites. This means that the people that don't use the Internet that much is better because they are not addicted to it because IF the Internet is down the world MAY just stop. I have actually tried not going on the Internet for a week and I tell you it is freaking IPOSSIBLE! If you do use it about at least three hours a day or somewhat that time and you try to quit it's not possible. But laying off the internet once in a while good for you.

A Change

So I decided to change the topic a little bit and talk more about fast food and health related things. I reason why I want to talk about fast food is because the world unhealthier than I thought. I always knew that America is one of the fattest nations but really, it’s getting TOO fat. No offense to the bigger people out there. Fast Foods have practically dominated the kitchen.

Healthy Food is also any issue. Healthy food doesn't taste that bad so why don't people eat more of it? The reason for that is because healthy food just cost way to much so people buy the less healthy and cheaper foods. If the economy wasn't that bad and healthy foods were a lot cheaper a lot more people will buy healthier foods. Therefore, more people will be healthier and happier about their lives.

For any example McDonald’s have used cheaper ingredients to make their food thus, they create more profit for the least amount of ingredients cost while they increase their revenue. Fast foods have dominated the kitchen in only 20 years when they produced a machine to make syrup at a cheaper cost. That’s also how fast foods and stores sell high amounts of soda for less than two dollars. More people are getting overweight because of eating fast foods. The only things we humans did were help the fast food companies in excelling them. Health was never a factor in the creation of fast food nations. So when they introduced all the new and improved sandwiches and salad that they say are less on calorie you would be surprised that the dressing for the salads makes up for more than the missing calories.

Everyone has seen ad for all those fast food joints commercials more than 100 times a year because of the amount of money those company invested billions of dollars into the market place. They mostly want to try and capture the American lifestyle which is the fast pace and tight schedule of an American life and pull them in when they see the bright golden arches of McDonald’s.

Something Fresh Like Food

The economy these days are just getting worse and worse. A lot of people are TRYING to live a greener and healthier life. However it is actually very hard to do so if you don't know how. One way to live greener and healthier is eating fresher and more organic foods. But you’re probably wondering how do eating fresher foods help the environment? Well, by eating healthier and more organic foods the demand for it grows. The land that is producing the organic and healthier foods goes up. So there are going to more farms, however, more farms don’t necessarily mean that it’s better for the environment. More farms also mean that there might be more cows and livestock too. The livestock's gases are VERY harmful to the Earth's atmosphere.
I also think that if people can drive a more environmental friendlier car then the atmosphere will be a lot better. Right now I think that America is the least eco-friendliest country in the world. If you have been to China and you thought that was bad, America is much worse. Maybe you can tell in an instant but it is true. America has one of the worse air pollutions in the world. People in America like better things, from the food you eat to the cars you drive. I think that if everyone did a little bit to help the world, the world would be a way better place.
Fast food nation is also a major issue in the world. The increase in fast food can also affect the Earth in many ways. The way they make fast food is also VERY unhealthy. It can harm the Earth by the factory that makes the burgers and chickens. Lots of people know what are in the burgers and chicken nuggets but most of them just don’t care. It takes more than a few million of people to create a most eco-friendly world.

For the World ( Introduction )

In this blog I would like to talk about the many things that go on and about in the world. There is lot of things on my mind but one thing that I really catches my eye is environmental things like pollution and global warming. I plan to write about how the environment is turning into a mess. A mess that not only one person can fix. It takes all of us to fix this epidemic. One topic that really catches my eye is pollution. The population is growing so fast that foods and companies have to keep up the demand for their product. So while this happens, more and more factories are being made and the result of that is having air pollution.

Another environmental epidemic is recycling. More trees are getting cut down than being planted. Cutting trees also take out our oxygen from the atmosphere. So the only thing that us humans can do to save the environment is to cut less trees and recycle more. Also the more polpultion means that the demand for housing goes up too. So using more lumber is required to bulid houses and some of the rich people buys bigger houses.
